What is the structure of XC MTB S3
Toray 700 carbon frame
So let's start with the carbon frame in Toray 700. Here, right at the beginning of the design process, the layup is carefully calculated to be extremely stiff where this is a necessity, and softer in other parts for the sake of rider comfort.

XC Bike Geometry
The geometry is pure MTB, with a seat angle of 74 deg in all sizes and an ultra-stable head angle of 66 deg. This, combined with a longish fork rake of 51mm and a generous wheelbase – well over a meter in all all sizes – makes for a well-riding, controllable machine. For enthusiasts who wish to build their own cross country mountain bike, the S3 frame is available at a price of US$ 730. The four sizes range from extra small, with a stack of 625mm, up to large at 639mm.
High performance full suspension shocks
Now lets look at the full suspensions, front and rear. The fork is from a 29er, with more than enough clearance for splashing through mud puddles. The boosted rear end accepts strong 148mm thru-axle wheels; again, the clearance is huge. The frame is set up for mechanical or electronic gears, with provision for hidden cables and hydraulic brake tubing runs.
On the complete bike as produced by ICAN, the front suspension is by Rockshox with a travel of 100mm. At the rear end of this “soft tail” another Rockshox heavy duty unit takes the sting out of trail bumps and potholes.

The complete machine assembled with the fit kit chosen by ICAN looks slim, smooth, elegant and purposeful. In short – it's a beautiful bike. It weighs in at a light 13.2 kgs in the smallest size – and is supplied without pedals. Gearing system and transmission
Gearing system and transmission are supplied by SRAM Eagle, with a 34-tooth chain ring turned by a 170mm pair of cranks on a stainless axle in a threaded BB. The XG1275 cassette on the rear wheel can cope with any gradient. This country bike offers a tiny top gear sprocket with ten teeth, and a low gear with 52 – that's 18 teeth more than the chain ring! Road cyclists stand in amazement when they see this set-up. But it can take the adventure cyclist into places where a road bike could never go.
The better brakes systerm and other fit kits
The fit kit for this XC mountain bike reads like a catalogue of high-end cycle components.
Brakes are also a SRAM product – the Level model, with the stopping power of six-bolt 180/160mm rotors. Hydraulic braking is standard on this 29er. Even the elegant silver chain comes from SRAM, and the Eagle trigger shifter on the ICAN carbon bars. The other parts of the so-called “cockpit” – the 45mm stem, Triaero bar, saddle and seatpost are all carbon fabrications manufactured by ICAN. The long 400 mm seat post is firm enough, with a diameter of 31.6mm; its length, combined with the sculptural saddle, help to give this full suspension MTB a light, elegant look, despite its purposeful build.
The Amazing Bike Wheelsets
Having appreciated all the finer details of the bike's frame and mechanisms, we have now come to where the rubber hits the rocks – the wheels. The boosted disc-fitted hubs are from Novatec, with 15mm thru-axles secured by Allen key nuts. Sapim supplied the Leader spokes, and the F935 carbon rims are an ICAN product. The front and rear are 29 inches in diameter. The bike comes with Maxxis Minion tires, 2.3 inches in diameter. Recommended pressures front and rear for this fast 29er are the same – only 60 psi.
