Gravel riding is the next big thing, and ICAN has a 2021 collection of carbon gravel frames for every budget. To fit these frames, ICAN offers some tough gravel wheelsets. All are guaranteed for two years, ready for clinchers or tubeless tires. The hubs take disc brakes and thru-axles.
The Alpha 35 Disc wheelset costs $405, and weighs under 1600 grams. The 700c rims are in Toray T700 fiber, 29mm wide and 35mm deep. Tires with diameters ranging between 25mm and 28mm will fit. Spokes are Pillar 1423, laced two cross front and rear. The ICAN D21 hubs take a Shimano cassette and disc brakes. The Alpha 35 disc offers features also found on costly wheelsets.
The Aero 35 wheelset is excellent value at $430, but weighs only 1359 grams. It has everything the Alpha 35 Disc has – with important differences.Rims are superlight, laid up in the a mix of Toray T700/T800. These aero-profile beauties are laced to Novatec hubs with Sapim X-Ray spokes, and the choice of thru-axle or quick release. This is a wheelset for the experienced rider – light and fast.
The Alpha 46 Disc wheelset costs $645 at a mass of 1708 grams. 700c rims are in Toray T700 fiber, 25mm wide and 46mm deep. The ICAN D21 rear hub takes a Shimano cassette. This wheelset is for challenging routes and heavier riders.
The DT Aero 35 is the jewel in the crown under $1000 and 1416 grams. The 35mm deep aero cross section rims are 29mm wide, in a combination of Toray T700 and and T800 fiber. They will accept a range of tires from 35 to 45mm in cross section. Spokes are Sapim CX-Ray, laced to DT Swiss hubs – either the 350S or the lightweight 240S.
